About
Yet another linux tutorial site, eh? Yes, yes it is. What separates us from the rest? Tuxtraining.com hopes to have a focus on teaching the basics of Linux to everyone and anyone. In the future we hope to be an excellent resource for anyone going after CompTIA’s Linux+ or the LPI exams. Tuxtraining also aims to be as vendor neutral as possible.
Many tutorial sites attempt to cater to catchphrases now-a-days to generate hits and attention on social sites, many new sites sprung up by new members to the linux community are also confusing distro specific tutorial with Linux generic tutorials as well and this breeds confusion amongst those just learning.
TuxTraining hopes to provide text tutorials, pdf cheat sheets and video walk-throughs when possible, while placing particular interest in the basics, security, and privacy.
You will also notice many tutorials here are paraphrased or at times flat out copied from other blogs. Tuxtraining will give full credit to the original authors and links back to the original article/blog as best as possible. We are not in the business of stealing content, but at times great tutorials arise on the web only for the author to discontinue their site or delete that particular entry for a multitude of reasons, etc.. Also at times, two or three related tutorials may be spread across a really large site or several sites and it’s nice to have all that information consolidated at one place, and when relevant tuxtraining will provide that.
If an author explicitly denies rights for others to do this we will obey their wishes and comply with any take down requests if the owner of the content feels their copyrights have been violated. This is not a for-profit site, the ads on this site are merely a way to supplement the expense of running TuxTraining.com. If TuxTraining.com ever becomes a profit making site, this practice will discontinue 100% in the name of integrity but we don’t see that happening as we only hope to be a provider and a place to consolidate some of the best information for Linux and it’s users and are willing to take a loss in bandwidth costs.
Doors will be opening soon, as Tuxtraining will be looking for some content contributors. Hope you enjoy the site.
